Further Levels
LEVEL 2
Water & Earth
Buoyancy, Fluidity and Rooting
Once the Level 1: Water requirements are assessed and complete; at Level 2: Water & Earth the Disciplines are all Tai Chi walking:
A set of three walks that help to develop the ‘stepping like a cat’ from the classics.
The ‘Elements’ applied to the framework of the form already learnt are:
Buoyancy (no linear movement)
Fluidity (no break in concentration)
Rooting (Stepping like a cat)
The relaxation part (or ‘song’) is increased in the form
Level 3 overview:
LEVEL 3
Earth
Intermediate
This is where we move away from what is often known as ‘church hall Tai Chi’ and start to examine the classics in more detail.
Abdominal breathing, Silk Reeling and many of the Tai Chi patterns move from the foundation versions to the classical versions.
We examine stretching out the muscle fascia by suspending the head, relaxing, opening points in the hands (started by the sinew exercises from Water Level).
A new Qi Gong set is learnt which is designed to release tension and stretch out the body ready for Zhan Zhuang or Standing Post Meditation.
Level 4 overview:
LEVEL 4
Earth & Wind/Wood
This is where all patterns are turned into the classical versions, including the direction changes and we examine silk reeling within the form in more detail amongst other more advanced concepts.
Further levels are available for dedicated students wanting to learn the long form.
For students wishing to progress, there will be processes in place to assess your form and training to open up each level in the site.
Or you can just use the site as an exercise resource at Water Level.
